2nd day in HK

The day started off with me waking up real early thanks to jet lag. Just killed time by talking on msn and watching youtube vids. Then I went out for dim sum with Uncle Albert @ the same place as yesterday. Ordered some typical stuff like beef tripe, rice rolls and I decided to try out their "lao sah bao" to see if they were any good. Their "low sah bao" doesn't exactly "lao" that well as shown by the pic below. It was real solid but I did taste a bunch of egg yolk which I gave a tiny plus. Overall, one of my family's favourite dim sum place in vancity has lao sah baos that will just straight up kill these. Was disappointed with the quality of the baos here.

Then afterwards, headed home and chilled for a bit. Headed out to Miramar Tower to do some shopping. Ended up with a pair of uniqlo (made in japan chyeah) for real cheap cuz of some promotion. Uncle Albert paid for this being my bro's red pocket gift so I don't have to bring money home with me on the plane trip again. Pics will be up tomorrow cuz the lighting really sucks right now (it's 12am here).

Then checked out IFC tower @ Central to check out their Levi's LVC. They wanted $3000HKD for a pair of jeans. Nah man, I'm alright hahaha. Looks like I might not end up buying any jeans in HK.

Following that, I went to Central's Optical 88 for a pair of glasses; nothing stood out so I went to Tai Koo Sing's Optical 88. They had a much better selection but none of them were "me". Looks like I may not be getting glasses in HK either.

We were getting hungry and ended up at some HK-style cafe that I had been to before on last time's trip to HK (the one with the good pork chop buns). I ordered squid balls with ho fun. The ho fun was thin and delicious. The squid balls were awesome; they actually tasted like squid vs Canada's crap.

After that, went to City Chain (watch distributor) and ended up getting a Casio G-shock for a decent price as well (cheaper than Canada). After the purchase, we headed back home to rest.

Then I went out with my homie Martin to Harbour City shopping centre and hung out for 2 hours just browsing around shops. I didn't end up getting anything cuz they sold a bunch of high end stuff at prices I wasn't willing to pay. Nothing really stood out either. Ah well.

Anyways, went out for dinner with his mom and dad later at some restaurant serving Shanghai style food. The dishes were quite decent and were "different" from the usual HK style food I eat while outside. The dessert was some egg bread pastry with red bean pastry filling. Overall, the meal was filling (cuz we ordered too much haha) and was good. Now I'm back home finishing up this rant before going off to bed to KO jet lag.

1st day in HK

The plane trip wasn't that bad actually. I logged in around six hours sleep total and arrived in HK at around 7:45am (their time). The plane had more than 30 movies, 70 "video games" (although not play-worthy), and 20+ tv series to choose between. They also had playable CD tracks and radio channels for music varying from cpop, jpop, and kpop. I ended up watching "The Invention of Lying", "Speed", "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and some various other tv shows.

Now onto the flight meals (sorry, didn't take pics of it cuz I was too hungry and the though of taking a pic of my meal didn't come to my mind). Had the supper first:

- Red bliss potato salad with smoked salmon (this was quite good)

- Sweet and sour chicken with veggies and steamed jasmine rice (which I picked vs the other choices and it was quite decent; I love sweet and sour stuff)

- Apple cheese cake (I actually ate this too and it was decent; just didn't like the cheesy-ness of it)

-Coke (diggin the caffeine so I could stay awake to watch more movies)

Breakfast was:

-Fresh fruit

-Fruit yoghurt (did not want, did not eat)

-Warm croissant with ham and egg sandwich (ate but was "meh")

-Coffee (more caffeine so more movie time)

Yea, the person who was scheduled to sit in the middle of my row didn't show so the guy @ the other end and me just sat real comfy. Overall, it was a pleasant ride.

After getting picked up by my uncle, I just went over to his house and unpacked my stuff to get settled. Then we went out for dim sum (it wasn't super awesome but it was alright). Shrimp dumplings were a bit small and weren't oh em gee delicious. Mixed mushroom rice rolls only contained 2 diff kinds of mushroom vs the usual 3 back in BC (it was alright). Beef omasum sucked haha. Beef balls w/ beancurds were "meh". Uncle Albert seems to like it there though. Then he just showed me how to get around by foot, shuttle bus, and MTR from the home location. Didn't end up buying anything today (so far); it's only 3:22pm over here.

Edit: Slept from around 4pm till 8:30-ish. Then went out to a random place to eat. Ended up with this:

Veggies were decent. Sweet and sour pork sucked; worse than Cathay Pacific , hah! Then just went to a local Wellcome supermarket and copped some oranges as well as

@ YVR preparing for departure

About 1.5 hours left till the boarding gates open and I'll be on my wonderful 14 hour trip to HK. Kinda stoked about all the shopping but I'll be missing all the great stuff that home provides. No messing around with my bro, no home cooked meals, no car talk. No going to Patty's for rengou vs zaft breaks while studying, no running the Terry Fox run, no bball-ing, biking and all that buttery goodness.

On a side note, I'll be updating this blog daily (hopefully) with pics.

Hello World!

Just had myself a relaxing weekend. On friday, celebrated Alex Chen's 19th birthday. We went out to Insadong for dinner. Hm... for about $23/person (including tax and tips), it was pretty decent. Props to Amaris Tok for being our bbq cook and recommending us a good set for dinner. What stood out for me was the seafood pancake.

Inside were shrimp and squid bits. Tastes quite different from usual things that I eat. The dinner was also composed up of bbq meats (beef, chicken, shrimp, oyster) and overall, it was a "fun" dinner.

On Saturday, went out with family to River Rock Casino for their lunch buffet. Their salads and desserts were good; however, the same cannot be said for their entrees. Their roast beef sucked, it was dry and too tough. They had an Asian food section which sucked (spring rolls with cabbage inside, chow mein that tasted like white ppl chow mein even though the chefs were asian). White ppl food section: glazed carrots (who goes to buffets to eat glazed carrots anyways?), buttered brocolli, bbq spare ribs (that tasted worse than microwave-able ones you can find from your local Costco), etc. So definitely not worth the $17/person it costed us. Pop, iced tea and coffee are bottomless though (if that helps?).

After lunch just went out grocery shopping @ Aberdeen Centre and China World. Stocked up on junk food and stuff. Btw, China World sells asian Vita juice (4 packs for $10) at a decent price.

Didn't do much afterwards, just relaxed and started on the hwk.

Start of the week

Hey guys, hope everyone got off to a good start of the week. Mondays always suck. Anyways, I didn't do much today besides some lab prep work and some lesson prep for tutoring.

On a side note, AChen has just finished his shoe project. Let's unveil the dopeness.

The rundown: he had to design and produce a shoe with just plain old white paper (with set thickness) and good ol Elmer's white liquid glue. That's the easy part; the shoe actually had to function as a shoe and support the full weight of the designer (Poor fat ppl in his class hahaha). Thus far, it's been fully functional. So for all you future shoe manufacturers out there, keep AChen bookmarked.

RE: Hate for dah fobby looking pretty boys

Alright, so as inspired by one of my friends, I will make a post to decompose and analyze the problems regarding the typical pretty boy.

The Hair: First off, Asian hair: dyed yellow, orange, etc. whatever shade if you will. Whyyyy do you need to spend so much time and money on your hair? Ok, so after some deep thinking, I can actually say that it isn't any "less man-ly" to dye one's hair given that these guys are only trying to look better for their women. I can live with that. Just try not to spend too much time on making yourself look pretty kay? ; )

Murse (the man purse) : Man, I really don't get this. You're a guy. You're straight. Why would you carry a purse? Here let me go to dictionary.com for ya'll.

Purse: a woman's handbag or pocketbook.

So, are you guys women? Apparently, you've got one of "those" (or I hope you do anyways) so you are definitely not a woman. :S

School boy look : Next up, we got the "school boy" look (courtesy here of legendary Beybladers Rey and Kai, although I would have to say these 2 guys here are the straightest little boys you'd ever find within a beyblade stadium). Supposedly, the school uniform look really hit it off when JAV had a breakthrough with their "school girl" cosplays and I think it must have passed down onto the boys just like how the murse did. Man, who would have ever thought that these guys would want other men to "..." off to them. That's sick guys. Really.

Skinny Skinny Skinny: alright so to top all their manly-ness off, these pretty boys will even have slimmer waistlines than their GF's. Prime example in this drama here called Ghost Friends, where this dude right here saves this girl from 3 big thugs with his "arms of steel". If I remember correctly, this dude's arm is even skinnier than Dhalsim the yoga man. Dhalsim says "wtf" O.o

Elf Shoes : Last but not least, we've finally made it down to the last part of the anatomy of the pretty boy. Why oh why would you wear elf shoes? You know just cuz you try to make your feet appear to be bigger don't mean you will be bigger down "there". Who you trying to foooool.

Alright so after all my blabbing, I hope none of you all took my post seriously because I'm just poking fun at one of the most "wanted" types of guys that many of you asian ladies like to go for. Irony of the day: the more homo you are, the more chicks you can pool in.

Great way to start off the weekend.

Hope all of you are having an awesome weekend. Sadly, I'm not. Was going up westwood plateau by bike to post some tutoring advertisements and when I'm halfway up the hill, boom, look at the rear tires; freaking flat. Again. This leads me to conclude that Specialized bicycles suck and do not purchase them. Jk. Previous 2 accidents were my fault, this one, dunno why I got a flat again. If I look on the brightside, at least it isn't expensive to repair.

Anyways, shout outz:

Props to JPark for landing a job @ the Korean restaurant up on Westwood; will be heading up there before my Hong Kong trip for "testing" the food up there. Hope it's good.

PS: Hope Martin isn't dead in HK cuz he hasn't been online for a while.
